Bolivarian Government unifies criteria for the inspection of affected buildings and elevators

From the Civil Protection operations tent, located on Avenida Bolívar in Caracas , the Deputy Minister of Prevention, Public Security and Peace Quadrants, G/D Endes Palencia, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Commerce and Director of the Deconcentrated Service for Standardization, Quality, Metrology and Technical Regulations (SENCAMER), Peggy Silva; held a coordination meeting with representatives of Venezuelan College of Engineers and representatives of the citizen security bodies of the metropolitan area of Caracas.

During the meeting, G/D Palencia, stated that through the Great Venezuela Renace Mission, the supervision of structures, elevators and staircases is being carried out.

“We cannot allow someone in a facility that has not been properly inspected to give an authorization informally or in isolation when we really have to comply with the established protocol,” he said.

He also reported that complaints have been received regarding the charge for the supervision of structures and elevators after the double earthquake of last June 24, in this regard, he recalled that these inspections are free of charge in accordance with the National Emergency Decree.

For her part, Deputy Minister Peggy Silva announced that the companies that carry out the inspections must be registered with SENCAMER. In turn, he explained that these regulations date back to 1986 and that, “in Caracas there are unscrupulous companies that wanted to create a maintenance contract in order to issue a positive inspection of elevators. These permissions have a legal and legal weight, so they must be carried out by registered companies.”

In the same way, he requested the creation of a single protocol for the inspection and supervision of buildings, to be carried out by Firefighters, Civil Protection, College of Engineers and SENCAMER, where a certified responsible person is the one who guarantees the inspection of structures and elevators.

Rafael Argotti, representative of the board of directors of the Venezuelan College of Engineers, and director of Infrastructure of the Government of Caracas, asked to include mechanical engineers to work together with elevator maintenance companies to carry out supervision.

In this regard, it was proposed to create a commission confirmed by the Ministry of Popular Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace, Ministry of Commerce, College of Engineers of Venezuela, SUNDDE , OSC, SNGR and mayors.

Finally, G/D Palencia congratulated the men and women of all the police forces, civil protection, firefighters, volunteer and international rescuers who joined the task of saving lives from day 1.
