On July 24, the Day of the Bolivarian National Navy is celebrated because in 1823 the Naval Battle of Lake Maracaibo was fought. In it, he faced the squads of Admiral José Prudencio Padilla and those of the Spanish commander Laborde, who after intense combat, the impetus and courage of the Creole patriots, had to capitulate and undertake the retreat. This sealed the definitive independence of our glorious homeland. For this reason, since this feat, homage has been paid to the Navy.
The Navy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is the component of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces responsible for ensuring naval defense and compliance with the Constitution and laws, cooperating in maintaining internal order and participating actively in national development, in order to guarantee the independence, sovereignty and integrity of the Nation's aquatic spaces.
