The Bolivian Labor Minister, Edgar Morales, formally placed his position at the disposal of the national Executive in an attempt to stop the escalation of conflict that the nation is going through. The decision of the ministerial authority comes in a scenario of extreme civil and political tension, marked by intense mobilizations from various social sectors that demanded their immediate departure from government offices.

The resignation was made official after days of protests that kept the institutional stability of labor offices and the government cabinet itself in jeopardy. The pressure exerted by the demonstrators in the streets accelerated the position of the holder of the portfolio, who chose to step aside to avoid further civil confrontations in the main cities of the Bolivian territory.

“For these comrades, I make my position as Minister of Labor available because I want to pacify the country; I don't want my country right now to be suffering with my brothers in the provinces,” the authority said verbatim.

Morales justified his determination by pointing out the state of vulnerability of the communities in the interior, stating that what he was observing is that “they are totally abandoned, that's why I put my position in office.”

The outgoing official stressed the need to open immediate institutional channels and delegated to the head of state the management of the office to give continuity to public management. “Perhaps the president will already know who to appoint for the country; I want there to be dialogue and I want technocracy to remain,” Morales concluded at the close of his official statement.
