Cabello: Chavism has twice pardoned Leopoldo López but he wants to return to cause more deaths

The Secretary General of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, during his Con El Mazo Dando program, recalled that 'Chavismo', faithful to its tradition, will approve in the second discussion in the National Assembly the Amnesty and National Reconciliation Act 2026.

“This Amnesty Law can only be approved by Chavism because we have a majority, and that's the case, and the president can, in her capacity as the highest representative of the National Executive, pardon someone, but whoever did not give the right, participated in a coup d'etat and left, cannot pardon them,” Cabello said of the scope of the coverage of the instrument of this law.

He also recalled that in the last century more than 11,000 young people were murdered and 3,000 disappeared during the governments of AD and Copei, and now those who did that want to take over the country again.

“How many deaths did the amnesty given to Leopoldo López, who benefited from an amnesty and then a pardon during the administration of Commander Chávez, cost? How many deaths did that decision cost? Or do you think that Leopoldo López is not thirsty to come and cause more deaths, because that is his nature, and that is what makes it clear that the only one of peace is represented by Chavism,” he emphasized.
