The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, regarding the resumption of consular relations with the Republic of Peru, specified that the reestablishment of these allows the attention of compatriots of both States.
He also pointed out that diplomatic relations between these nations were not broken by Venezuela: “We haven't broken them!” In this regard, he added that several governments, which after the double earthquake sent humanitarian aid and solidarity brigades, have expressed their “interest in the resumption of relations with our country. That corresponds to international politics, it belongs to the president according to the Constitution.”
He also added that Venezuela “has always asked and will continue to ask for respect,” and referred to the large number of Venezuelan migrants in Peru and Peruvians in the country.
