The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, celebrated this Thursday the 23rd anniversary of the Barrio Adentro Mission, a social program of the revolutionary Government that guarantees access to health for the people in every community in the country.

“23 years ago, the Barrio Adentro Mission was born, an initiative promoted by Commander Hugo Chávez to guarantee comprehensive medical care to the most vulnerable sectors of the population, reaching every corner of the country, from the neighborhood to rural areas,” said the Venezuelan Foreign Minister on his Telegram channel.

He stressed that this initiative “opened the doors to the human right to health for all Venezuelans and its success was due to the organization of communities and the invaluable solidarity of Cuban doctors, who together established a network of offices and workshops for prevention, early diagnosis and timely care.”

Gil emphasized that through this important mission “a social debt that had persisted for decades was settled.”
