On June 14, 2006, the Supreme Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez, insisted on Homeland conscience as the most powerful weapon of every soldier in the country to defend Venezuela from any internal or external threat.
“Today I insist that morality, fighting spirit, national conscience must be the most powerful weapon that every soldier has, the most powerful weapon that our people have, I will never tire of insisting on this: conscience,” said Commander Chávez from the Ministry for Defense, in Caracas.
In this sense, he stated that “consciousness generates an atomic force, it generates will, the will to fight, the will to fight; consciousness can even generate the will to die for what it defends itself. We need such a degree of awareness that we must be able to die at will for what we defend, to contribute like Christ, like Bolivar, the ultimate sacrifice (The one of life), based on conscience and love for our land, our people, our values, our Republic, our Bolivarian Revolution,” he emphasized.
