All officials who hold positions within the Government and manage resources should not be tied to anything beyond their responsibilities to the people, said the Supreme Commander, Hugo Chávez Frías.

“The administration of resources no one, no one who holds a government position should be tied to anything. Neither to the wife who rules it nor to the husband who rules it. Not to the children who blackmail him. Neither the bride nor the groom. Nor to the family that harasses him. Christ to fulfill his task. He left, that's the extreme example of the one who leaves everything. Even one day Maria came looking for him, crying: “Son, what are you doing? Look at your feet as they are full of sores from walking barefoot.” And Christ said to her: “You are my mother, but I don't belong to you.” And he went down the roads. I swear to you, in my personal case, that I am not tied to anything or anyone, and I feel absolutely free to do my job, to fulfill my task,” he said from Miranda state, on October 23, 2004.
