Chávez to the church oligarchy: It's shameful to be a liar and walk around in a cassock

On September 21, 2003, the Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez Frías, highlighted the shame of the ecclesiastical oligarchy in Venezuela, its members, disguised in cassocks, manipulate the truth and lie to the people, as well as the opposition.
“It's shameful to grow old to be a liar and walk around wearing a cassock to be a liar. Don't be liars. I can demonstrate to them and my government team can prove to them, in the ECLAC figures, not the opposition figures that this small group of bishops who manipulate this truth and lie shamelessly, without shame,” said the Commander during his Hello President No. 165 from the Miraflores Palace.
He also recalled the participation of the church hierarchy during the 2002 coup d'etat.
