Chávez Undefeated: The Opposition Requires Serious Leadership

Commander Hugo Chávez stated that the country requires serious opposition leadership, with clear proposals and minimum codes of political ethics.

“After the opposition disaster of October 7... let's hope that the Venezuelan right will enter into a process of reflection, analysis and a new political map, serious leadership, with a serious proposal, will emerge from the ashes,” said the Commander on September 11, 2012 from the Alba Caracas Hotel.

He indicated that, after the electoral result, some sectors of the extreme right will try to report fraud, but he insisted that this behavior is part of repeated behavior. He added that the opposition leadership has shown improvisation and lack of coherence in their government plans.

Chávez questioned the actions of the opposition candidate and the parties that support him, noting that they have presented multiple plans without taking responsibility for them. “The politician must have a minimum code of ethics... he can't be such a scoundrel,” he said.

The leader of the Revolution argued that politics requires taking positions with transparency, regardless of ideological location, and reiterated that the opposition must review its practices to offer real alternatives to the country.
