Chávez Undefeated: The State has media that tell the truth for the People

Commander Hugo Chávez highlighted, on August 28, 2012, the fundamental role played by truthful information in times of crisis, while emphasizing the capacity of the Venezuelan people to grow in the face of difficulties.

“So an operational but gigantic deployment, thanks to the fact that the State has media that tell the truth and that thousands of journalists, cameramen are deployed with their cameras, their equipment, the Simon Bolivar Satellite, is that we can really inform a people, for what? To keep him well informed, to ask for calm, to give serious directions and guidance, he said from Caracas.

The president stressed that, if they were to rely solely on private channels, the population would be exposed to narratives that, far from helping, seek to take political advantage of the pain of others. In that sense, he stressed that these intentions will not succeed in deceiving a people that has awakened and that demonstrates its fiber inherited from the liberators.

“Imagine if we were dependent only on private television, print or radio channels, a good part of which have been dedicated in recent days to trying, as they say in Creole, not to help but to add fuel to the candle, trying to extract political benefits, in quotation marks, from a tragedy; trying to ride on the pain of a people, national pain, national mourning, is something truly inhuman.”

Commander Chávez also invited citizens to continue to demonstrate maturity, conscience and greatness, recognizing the strength shown in every corner of the country in the face of difficulties.
