“This is not an unarmed revolution,” said Commander Hugo Chávez on April 11, 2012 from the Miraflores Palace, recalling that civic-military union is a guarantee of popular defense against any attempt at destabilization.
Quoting the writer Luis Britto García, Chávez emphasized that “there is no army without a people and there is no people without an army,” and warned of sectors that are still conspiring to retake power through violent means. “I spoke clearly to the bourgeoisie: if they come by violent means, there are soldiers here and there are people,” he said.
Chávez assured that the Bolivarian Revolution is based on the perfect equation: People and soldiers united.
