On February 9, 2003, during the broadcast of the Sunday program Aló President 138, from the Miraflores Palace in Caracas, he assured that the coup plotters “waste time wanting to get Chávez and Chávez out here with the People, we will not leave here, no waste more time, get to work, go to work and let others work.”

“In addition, they are irresponsible, they don't even have the courage to assume their responsibility, they should apologize to Venezuelans for the damage caused,” said the Bolivarian leader, adding that he hopes that they will rectify and that a serious political opposition will assume real political leadership to dialogue, but with seriousness.

Hugo Chávez called for prison for the mafias. “We ask for imprisonment for terrorists, not impunity, exemplary punishment, exemplary punishment, and this is what the whole world asks for, not only Venezuela, it is already a cry from the world that terrorists, fascists and saboteurs should be imprisoned, this is vital for justice, for peace, for the rule of law,” he said.

In this regard, he stressed that when he asked for imprisonment in the name of the People for the saboteurs, “what they did this or that based on the law, is not because I hate anyone, it's not that only in this way will we avoid the cancer of impunity that eats away at the bowels of the Republic.”
