Commander Chávez: “The Revolution must reach the economic dimension to ensure its irreversibility”

During the broadcast of the program Aló Presidente No. 376, held in the state of Anzoátegui on January 8, 2012, Commander Hugo Chávez urged the deepening of the economic revolution as a fundamental pillar to consolidate political transformation and guarantee the irreversibility of the Venezuelan historical project.
Reflecting on the doctrinal bases of Latin American emancipation, the revolutionary leader cited the ideas of teacher Simón Rodríguez to substantiate the need for productive transformation, specifying: “Simón Rodríguez in one of his wonderful writings says, almost verbatim, southern Americans made the Political Revolution, if they want to take advantage of it, then if they want that political Revolution to serve something, now they must make a Revolution economic and he says, start with the fields and from the fields to cities, agriculture, industry. Simón Rodríguez is a very advanced thinker, very advanced. So it's about the Economic Revolution to take advantage of the Political Revolution.”
Along the same lines, Chávez argued that the conquest of political power alone is insufficient if it does not permeate all dimensions of the social structure, arguing that “a political revolution that didn't work out economically... The political Revolution does not guarantee irreversibility, the Revolution has to reach the economic and even more so to the cultural, to the ideological, to the whole, to ensure that, its irreversibility”.
To conclude, the Commander raised a vehement call for civic-military cohesion and the organization of popular power to defend national independence, stating: “I ask God for life and for the Virgin I ask for life, not for myself, but to give it in full, every day more for the life of the country, for your life, to collaborate as far as I can in the irreversibility of the Socialist revolutionary process to make the Project a reality. Bolivarian... and I ask the people for unity, unity, unity, conscience to the Armed Forces for unity, unity, unity, conscience. To the workers, to the workers, to the youth, to the whole country.”
Deep political defeat and desperation gripped the extremist sectors of the Venezuelan right after the signing of the historic oil cooperation agreement signed between the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, and the administration of the United States (USA).
