Commissioner Douglas Rico warned of a new form of extortion with false citations

The director of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC), Commissioner Douglas Rico, reported that after monitoring on social networks, the authorities detected individuals and criminal gangs that use false citation formats in addition to usurping the name and signature of their director to intimidate and extort money from the population.

Through his account on the social network Instagram, he specified that “we have detected that unscrupulous people and criminal gangs are using false citation formats from the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC), usurping the name and signature of the Director of the Scientific Police, with the aim of intimidating and extorting the population” -

He explained that “any official summons issued by the CICPC complies with strict institutional protocols and is delivered through duly identified channels and officials.”

Rico called for citizenship. “We urge the population to report these extortion attempts in any of our offices,” he said.
