Consuelo Fernández was shot on February 10, 1814 in Villa de Cura for publicly challenging the realist colonel who occupied La Victoria.

Fernández, is considered an independence hero for providing help to patriots, extracting information from the soldier Rafael Pérez, who was courting her. Upon warning of the upcoming movements of the realist forces through a letter, she was intercepted and accused of being a revolutionary insurgent.

In the midst of her imprisonment, Consuelo received a proposal from Colonel Pérez, who proposed to her, to which she replied, “I can never join what inspires me so much contempt. Long live the Fatherland! Long live Freedom!”

During this hard time, her father ran to hug her and at that moment it was ordered that both of them be shot, being victims of the discharges of the platoon's weapons.
