Venezuelan José Altuve of the Houston Astros achieved a new milestone after reaching 2,500 hits in his career in the major leagues.
The Venezuelan achieved the feat during the match against the Philadelphia Phillies, when in the top of the third episode he hit a double for center field against the throws of Dominican Christopher Sánchez, to consolidate his historic record in the Big Tent, Radio Miraflores reports.
With this record, Astroboy formally joins Luis Aparicio, Omar Vizquel and Miguel Cabrera as the only Venezuelan players to reach the select mark of 2,500 hits.
At 36 years old, the midfielder is also the 102nd player in MLB history to reach this offensive rung.
