Indigenous protests in Ecuador have lasted for three consecutive weeks, intensifying the confrontation with the government of Daniel Noboa, who has chosen to discredit the mobilized sectors.
In an interview with Sputnik, political analyst Cristina Bastidas emphasized the lack of a structured proposal from the president. In his opinion, the official response has been severe. “For the past seven years, demonstrations have been subject to repression, with victims and the use of live ammunition against the civilian population,” he said.
“For now, Noboa's response has been a very strong repression, which becomes a symptom of this type of neoliberal governments,” he concluded.
