Elvismar Rodríguez imposes his law on the tatami and is crowned Judo champion -78K in Santa Fe 2026

Venezuelan judoka Elvismar Rodríguez once again left the national tricolor high after becoming champion and winning the gold medal in the women's -78 kg judo category, during the XIII South American Games Santa Fe 2026.
With an impeccable performance based on technique, hierarchy and strength, the Venezuelan athlete dominated the Brazilian Beatriz Furtado in the final, who had to settle for the silver medal. The third rung of the podium was occupied by Colombian Brenda Oyala.
Rodríguez's journey began steadily on Tatami 1 of the Invincible Rosario venue. In her first fight in Group A, the Venezuelan demonstrated her power by decisively prevailing over Argentina's Nicole Piscina, via the Ippon after 3:00 minutes of combat.
Later, in their second match of the day, Rodríguez faced Brazil's Beatriz Furtado, who he defeated by Yuko after completing the regular 4:00 minutes.
In the semifinals, the Venezuelan returned to jump on the mat to face the Colombian Brenda Olaya, whom she dominated without setbacks.
