Every third Sunday in June, Father's Day is celebrated in Venezuela. A festival dedicated to honoring the lives of those men who, by their example, have fulfilled their fatherly role in the lives of millions of Venezuelans.

Origin

During Mother's Day 1909, the American Sonora Smart Dood proposed June 5, the birthday of her father Henry Jackson Smart, as Father's Day, with the objective of highlighting the work of the father figure in family life.

However, in 1966, President Lyndon B. Johnson established that Father's Day should be every third Sunday in the month of June. However, it wasn't until 1972 that President Richard Nixón formalized the celebration.
Over the years, many Latin American countries decided to incorporate this special date to show them all the love, affection and gratitude they feel for them.
