The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, celebrated this Saturday the 276th anniversary of the birth of Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda, Precursor of Independence and “great architect of the independence and integrationist dream of Our America”.
“Known as 'The First Universal Venezuelan', Miranda left an indelible mark on history by playing a crucial role in the Independence of Venezuela, as well as in the Independence of the United States and the French Revolution,” Gil recalled in a message posted on his social networks.
He stressed that the talent of this important hero, both militarily and diplomatically, was fundamental to advancing independence causes.
“In addition, Miranda was the visionary creator of the geopolitical project known as Gran Colombia, an ambitious idea that both El Libertador Simón Bolívar and Commander Hugo Chávez tried to materialize at different times and in different ways: Bolívar sought to consolidate a united nation, while Chávez advocated regional integration,” he stressed.
Gil highlighted that Miranda “is the most distinguished Venezuelan in our country, a true pioneer in the fight for freedom and the unity of peoples.”
