The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, recalled this Friday the quixotic action of a group of young people led by the Cuban leader Fidel Castro, who on a day like today, in 1953, decided to undertake the Assault on the Moncada Barracks.

Through his account on the social network X, the Venezuelan diplomat stressed that this important military operation “began a movement that would culminate in the Cuban Revolution of 1959.”

On July 26, 1953, a group of young revolutionaries ventured into the obscurity that prevailed in Cuba dominated by the pro-imperialist dictatorship of Fulgencio Bastista and with great courage they launched a ray of hopeful light for the people in the action that was called the Assault on the Moncada Barracks.
