France is going through a critical climate episode after recording 23 uninterrupted days of extreme temperatures in most of the country. As reported by the weather service, the current heat wave has reached a historic milestone, matching the mark registered in July 1983.
According to a press release from Telesur, the phenomenon is positioned as the longest since official records began in 1947. The persistence of intense heat for more than three consecutive weeks has generated exceptional weather conditions affecting almost the entire country.
This situation has resulted in severe environmental complications in different regions. French President Emmanuel Macron warned that the nation is facing a record number of forest fires, reaching a severity not seen since the Second World War.
The authorities are deploying extensive emergency operations to combat the flames and deal with the effects caused by extreme temperatures. The simultaneous nature of these events keeps rescue and civil protection services on maximum alert throughout the territory.
