FUNVISIS records 94 earthquakes in the country during the last week

The Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (FUNVISIS) presented its Weekly Seismicity Report for the period between September 11 and 17, in which it counted 94 seismic events in the national territory.

According to the data provided, the tremors ranged in a magnitude range of 1.5 to 4.0 Mw. Most of the movements were concentrated between 2.0 and 2.9 Mw, with 54 events, followed by 24 earthquakes recorded between 3.0 and 3.9 Mw.

Geographically, the shocks were located in a latitude range of 5º to 14° N and longitude of 59º to 74° W, with the main incidence in the northern fringe of the country, according to the report of the body attached to the Ministry of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace.

FUNVISIS urged citizens to stay informed through their official channels and to promote a culture of prevention in the face of seismic events, in order to reduce risks and act in a timely manner in the face of any contingency.
