FUNVISIS reports 103 earthquakes during the week of August 14 to 20

The Venezuelan Seismological and Tsunami Warning Service (SSATV) of the Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (FUNVISIS) reported that between August 14 and 20, 2026, a total of 103 earthquakes were reported in the national territory.

The SSATV indicated that 55 earthquakes were recorded in the central region, including one of magnitude greater than 4 with an epicenter in La Guaira, which occurred in the early morning of August 18, according to the Venezolana de Televisión website.

While in the west of the country, the sensors counted 38 events and in the eastern region, 10 low-intensity movements were detected over the course of the mentioned period.

The entity attached to the Ministry of People's Power for Science and Technology maintains the monitoring of the nation's coordinates to ensure the generation of timely alerts and the scientific study of the phenomena that occur under the Earth's crust.
