The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, led a coordination meeting of the General Staff with the objective of accelerating the design and execution of contingency plans aimed at treating families affected by recent earthquakes in the country. The sectoral vice-president of the Social Area, Héctor Rodríguez, participated in this technical meeting, together with several ministers of the Bolivarian Government.

Rodríguez previously specified that the official figure records more than 15,000 people affected nationwide, who began to be admitted and treated in temporary camps since yesterday.

In the specific case of La Guaira, one of the areas with the greatest impact, 15 large shelters were reported to have been installed in the coastal area to provide systematic assistance to the civilian population. The authorities pointed out that this comprehensive deployment of the national government simultaneously covers the other seven states that were affected by seismic activity.

As part of the monitoring on the ground, the president of the AN, together with the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, carried out inspection tours in several of the camps set up in the state of La Guaira. The purpose of this institutional deployment was to verify first-hand the quality of the medical, food and logistical care provided to each of the affected families.
