The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, met in Caracas with the chargé d'affaires of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Colin Dick, as part of the agenda for the full restoration of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
“Venezuela and the United Kingdom are opening a new chapter in their bilateral relations,” said the president on her Telegram channel, where she explained that during the conversation she thanked the British diplomat “for his willingness and support in this process of resuming diplomatic relations between the two countries.”
“Understanding and cooperation are the way to build new stages of rapprochement and joint work,” he added.
According to a Presidential Press release, the development of the cooperation agenda addresses issues of strategic interest, including the commitment of the European nation to maintain long-term support for Venezuela.
Among the highlights is the United Kingdom's continued support for the national reconstruction efforts initiated after the earthquakes of last June 24, thus strengthening cooperation ties and peace diplomacy promoted by the National Government.
