Gianluca Rampolla and representatives of the United Nations System present an earthquake reconstruction plan

Gianluca Rampolla, humanitarian coordinator of the United Nations System in Venezuela, participated in the presentation of the plan for the reconstruction of the affected areas of the country after the double earthquake of last June 24, an initiative carried out together with representatives of the United Nations System (UN) to articulate an effective institutional response; following the double earthquake of last month.

He stressed that the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA), the internationally recognized methodology for comprehensively measuring the effects of these events, will be applied.

In this regard, he stated that “on behalf of the United Nations, I would like to express our solidarity with affected individuals, families, communities and recognize the efforts made by national, state and local authorities, as well as by first response teams.”

He explained that the actions have the technical and financial support of the United Nations System, the European Union (EU) and the World Bank; as well as with the cooperation of strategic partners such as the Andean Development Corporation (CAF) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

He reported that technical work begins immediately with work tables made up of experts with practical knowledge in areas declared in emergency.
