On April 10, 1925, in the city of Caracas, Guillermo García Ponce was born, a journalist, politician and writer who defended the causes of the People, promoting socialist and communist thinking, which he defended with tenacity and loyalty throughout his life.

Founder of the Vea newspaper, García Ponce , stood out for his defense of the truth of the Peoples, in the face of the lies of the bourgeois and oligarchic elites that attacked the Bolivarian Revolution.

He fought the ignominy of puntofixism, so he was imprisoned along with other revolutionary leaders in the San Carlos Barracks, from where he starred in the spectacular escape through a 28-meter-long tunnel, which he said took three years to build.

Loyal to the Bolivarian Revolution, he stood out for his defense of Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez, to whom he always professed his appreciation and respect as the leader of this process that is still in force; and who was born out of the struggles waged by revolutionaries such as García Ponce.

Today, 100 years after his birth, Venezuelans honor the memory of those who will always be remembered as a militant of the truth and a faithful defender of the cause of the peoples.
