The president of the Infrastructure Habitability Assessment Commission, Francisco Garcés, reported that so far 6,907 buildings have been evaluated in La Guaira, of which 3,237 obtained the color green, which implies that they are habitable and do not pose any type of risk.

The authority highlighted that 1,785 structures obtained the yellow label, that is, they have restricted use either due to minor damage to structures or significant damage to masonry.

In the same way, he indicated that there are 1885 homes in red, 24.4%. “Just because a house has the color red doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be demolished,” explained the engineer, who specified that the Presidential Commission has already given guidelines for repairing non-structural elements to institutions linked to the Venezuela Renace Plan.

He assured that these guidelines will also be available to institutions and individuals who wish to access them through the permits they must request from mayors and governorates for repairs,” added the civil engineer with experience in structures and seismic resistance.

Later, Garcés added, the commission will issue guidelines for minor structural damage and major structural damage, including shoring. “This must be verified and conducted by a certified engineering professional.”

For her part, the president of the Venezuela Renace plan, Jacqueline Fanía, indicated that at the national level, 11,794 homes are under reconstruction, of which 4,393 are single-family or two-family houses and 7,401 are apartments corresponding to 228 buildings.
