The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro paid tribute to the 202 years of the Battle of Bomboná, masterfully led by the Liberator of America, Simon Bolivar, on April 7, 1822, which took place in Colombia, now the current department of the municipality of Nariño.
“A military feat that promoted the campaign for the liberation of the South, allowing the configuration of Colombia and the advancement of the independence cause in the continent,” said the Venezuelan head of state through the social network X.
With the victories of Bomboná and Pichincha, the concept of homeland for Bolívar expanded, since the Liberator's homeland ranged from the Orinoco to the Pacific, from Panama to the highest point of the Andes that it encompassed, to the current Republics of Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela.
