Head of State celebrates two years of the Patriot Victory of the Referendum for the Defense of the Essequibo

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, ratified this Wednesday the national spirit for territorial sovereignty, two years after “the Patriot Victory of the Consultative Referendum for the Defense of the Essequibo”, on December 3, 2023.

“For the first time in 150 years of struggle for Guiana Essequiba, the doors were opened to consult the sovereign will: ordinary men and women. This unprecedented electoral process constituted an inclusive, educational and exciting campaign that awakened the national spirit,” said the head of state through his Telegram channel.

In this regard, he praised the response of the Venezuelan people to this initiative. “You have to look at his face... to call a referendum with issues so complex and difficult that they merited study and debate, and that people have responded with a high level of awareness, education and preparation,” he said.

He stressed that Venezuelans are the winners of Guiana Essequiba, “without exclusion or partisanship. Through the vote, a vital and transcendent push was given to begin a new historical phase with the full exercise of popular and constitutional sovereignty, in order to recover the legacy of our Liberators. Long live the #3Dic victory! Long live the national union!” , he stressed.
