Head of State commemorates the birth of Juana Ramírez “The Advancer”: A courageous and fierce woman

On Friday, January 12, 234th anniversary of the birth of Juana Ramírez “The Advancer”, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, praised the legacy of this warrior of independence, an example of the strength and struggle of patriotic women.
Through her account on the social network X, the head of state described La Avanzadora as a “courageous and fierce woman who fought for our Independence with passion, determination and dedication, recognized by the Venezuelan people as a great hero of our Homeland history”.
La Avanzadora was born on January 12, 1790, in the Chaguaramas municipality of the state of Guárico. From an enslaved black mother, Juana was raised in the family of General Andrés Rojas, her father, who freed her from slavery at birth.
From a very young age, she declared herself in rebellion, unleashing her passion for the Fatherland, her desire for absolute freedom and her dedication to the battles against barbarism, being considered an independence hero of Venezuela because of the various battles she led in the first decades of the 19th century.
