221st anniversary of the physical departure of Liberator Simon Bolivar's wife, María Teresa del Toro.
“221 years ago, the
young Simon Bolivar lost his beloved wife María Teresa del Toro, who
left this world leaving a deep sadness in him, swore never to
marry again and he fulfilled it, the Liberator never forgot his first love and that's why
we don't forget her either,” said the head of state through his X account.
María Teresa del
Toro y Alayza was the daughter of Bernardo Rodríguez del Toro y Ascanio, a native of
Caracas, and Benita de Alayza y Medrano, a native of Valladolid, Spain. She was born
