This July 11, Venezuela commemorates eight years since the creation of the National Plan for Humanized Childbirth, an initiative promoted by President Nicolás Maduro in 2017 as part of public policies aimed at the comprehensive protection of pregnant women, newborns and families.

The program, developed under the approach of respect for human rights and interculturality, seeks to transform maternal care from a more humane, safe and accompanied perspective, recognizing the leading role of women in the process of pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum.

Since its implementation, the Plan has promoted the formation of community promoters of humanized childbirth, psycho-emotional and physical support during pregnancy, and inter-institutional coordination between the Ministry of Popular Power for Women and Gender Equality, the Ministry of Popular Power for Health and the Missions and Great Missions system.

“Humanized childbirth is love, it's conscience and it's revolution,” said the National President during the launch of the plan on July 11, 2017, reaffirming the commitment of the Bolivarian Government to the humanization of birth and the dignification of motherhood.

This day, in addition to highlighting the importance of respect and support in the pregnancy process, invites us to continue strengthening care and protection networks, in coordination with Popular Power and community health bodies.
