On August 9, 2009, Commander Hugo Chávez, during the 336th Aló Presidente program, launched the Barrio Nuevo Plan, Barrio Tricolor.
“Barrio Nuevo is the same as Barrio Tricolor, yellow, blue and red, in honor of the Flag, Barrio Nuevo, Barrio Tricolor, we are going to make all these neighborhoods very beautiful, may God be with us, and we are going with maximum efficiency and with all the love for our people,” said Commander Chávez during the Fuerte Tiuna program.
Plan Barrio Nuevo, Barrio Tricolor aims to impact and promote spaces for the development and integral well-being of the people.
“This is, in a program and in a process that will take us years, but that we must maintain with maximum effort, and with progress, a speed, well, as fast as we can. But we're going to spend years doing this,” said Commander Chávez.
For his part, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, increases the rank of this plan, which becomes Gran Misión Barrio Nuevo, Barrio Tricolor through Decree 603, published in the Official Gazette of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela No. 40,299, on November 21, 2013.
This Great Mission continues to provide well-being to the Venezuelan people with the fundamental premise of organizing and guaranteeing the comprehensive security of the nation from the neighborhood.
