INAMEH convenes technical forum to strengthen its disaster preparedness in 2026 this Thursday

This Thursday, the Caracas Prepared, Prevented and Resilient Forum for Disaster Risk 2026 will take place, a space for institutional analysis and coordination convened by the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH) to review the main threat factors facing the capital and the routes of action in the face of adverse events.

The activity is scheduled at 9:00 in the morning in the Darío Vivas Plenary Hall in the Central Park and will bring together specialists in risk management, meteorology, engineering and mental health, in order to update technical criteria and strengthen coordination between public bodies and actors linked to emergency response.

The president of INAMEH, General Reidy Zambrano Méndez, will explain the climatic variations associated with the El Niño 2026 phenomenon and its possible impact on the national territory. Division General (retired) Luis Jiménez Villarrue will present the Caracas club and the lessons learned from the earthquakes recorded this year.

Engineer Marcelo González will show a vulnerability study that identifies areas susceptible to floods and landslides, while psychologist Roger Garcés will address the psychosocial effects generated by disasters on communities and response teams.
