INCES will train more than 139,000 people in the construction plan in La Guaira

A total of 139,857 people have applied to train in occupations related to construction, as part of the National Training Plan for Construction Workers, an initiative that will receive priority attention in La Guaira, Caracas and Miranda.

The president of the National Institute for Socialist Training and Education (INCES), Wickelman Paredes, reported that through the “Fortaleza La Guaira: Life and Production” Program, participants will be trained or accredited by the organization for incorporation into the different fronts of work that will begin to be activated in these entities, within the framework of reconstruction work.

The training includes occupations such as masonry, electricity, carpentry, blacksmithing and welding, areas considered necessary to meet the demand for labor associated with the recovery of infrastructure.

Paredes provided the information during an activity held at the Chamber of Commerce of La Guaira, where INCES, the National Council for Commerce and Services (ConseComercio), the Chamber of Construction and Conseturism presented the Fortaleza La Guaira Program, aimed at identifying, training and accrediting workers according to the needs of productive sectors.

“Fortaleza La Guaira” also seeks to prepare local capacities to take advantage of resources that can be channeled through international organizations, the national government, regional and municipal authorities or the private sector, in accordance with the entity's recovery needs.

Paredes stressed that Inces is also working on the transformation of its professional technical training offer, with the support of international organizations such as UNESCO and the United Nations System.

He explained that this process contemplates updating the competencies and abilities required by the different productive sectors, from activities associated with construction to areas of greater specialization such as oil, mining and telecommunications.

The president of ConseComercio, José Gregorio Rodríguez, said that the initiative seeks to take advantage of existing knowledge and experience in the entity and certify them through INCES, in addition to progressively expanding training to other areas related to trade, services and tourism.

Among the proposed areas are refrigeration, gastronomy, tourist guidance and technological skills to support commercial activity. Rodríguez indicated that business chambers will also participate in technical assistance and specialized training.

Rodríguez also stated that the economic recovery of La Guaira requires articulated measures to accompany trade and private initiative affected by the earthquakes of June 24, including financing, tax facilities, simplification of procedures and recovery of public services.

The business leader argued that the reconstruction of infrastructure must proceed in parallel with the recovery of shops and services, due to the direct relationship between tourist and commercial activity and the mobility of visitors to the state.

The training proposal is thus proposed as one of the components of the La Guaira recovery process, with an emphasis on generating work capacities that meet the new demands of reconstruction and, at the same time, strengthen the entity's economic activity.
