INDEPAZ reported 182 social leaders murdered in Colombia (+2023)

The Institute for Development and Peace Studies (INDEPAZ) reported another murder of a social leader in the municipality of Toribio, in the Department of Cauca, Colombia.

 

In this regard, the entity explained that the citizen identified as Marino Paví, who served as coordinator of the Indigenous Guard -Kiwe Thegna- of the San Francisco reservation for several years, was murdered in his home in the village of La Betulia.


For its part, the Office of the Ombudsman has issued AT 019/23 for human rights leaders and defenders and AT 005/23 for Toribio, in which it indicates the risk scenario faced by people who are dedicated to the defense of human rights and social leadership individually or collectively from various spheres or sectors in the country. The imposition of norms and other forms of social control by groups.

 

According to what was published by INDEPAZ, through the social network X, with this new murder there have been 182 victims in the Latin American country so far in 2023.
