On September 13, 2007, the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) approved the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples with 144 votes in favor.
Since the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution, the rights of Indigenous Peoples expressed in the Constitution have been vindicated in Venezuela.
In August 2021, the current National Assembly approved the Reform of the Organic Law on Indigenous Languages in order to give more recognition and prominence to our ancient language.
Indigenous Peoples have guarantees of health, education and housing thanks to the policies and legacy of Commander Hugo Chávez.
