Indigenous women are honored on a day that vindicates knowledge and ancient medicine

Women workers and leaders in the health sector participated in the commemoration of the International Day of Indigenous Women, a day dedicated to reclaiming ancestral knowledge and the protective role of indigenous communities.

The activity was attended by the General Directorate of Indigenous, Intercultural Health and Complementary Therapies, which attended after the formal invitation of the Ministry of Popular Power for Indigenous Peoples, in a space aimed at strengthening the recognition of original women as guardians of traditional medicine.

The meeting took place in Plaza Ezequiel Zamora, in El Calvario Park, in Caracas. At the site, the participants reaffirmed their institutional commitment to the healing traditions of indigenous peoples and to the promotion of intercultural practices within the public health system.

Under the slogan “Fabric of resistance and resilience for rebirth”, the attendees honored the work of indigenous women as a fundamental pillar in the preservation of traditional medicine, the transmission of knowledge and social cohesion in their territories.
