December 3 was declared International Day of Physicians and Physicians in honor of the birth of the Cuban Carlos Finlay Barrés, who discovered the mosquito, Aedes Aegypti, which transmits yellow fever.

Since 1955, Venezuelan Physician's Day has been celebrated every March 10 in Venezuela, in honor of these people who work with a vocation for the lives of all human beings regardless of social class. This date was also selected by the Venezuelan Medical Federation to commemorate the birth of the doctor and former president of Venezuela, José María Vargas, an example in the practice of medicine.
In the same way, for them to reach the people, the Revolution has promoted the creation of the Barrio Adentro Mission, Misión Milagro, Misión Sonrisa, Misión José Gregorio Hernández, Misión Niño Jesús, Integra l Diagnostic Centers, Popular Pharmacies and the installation of specialized centers such as Children's Cardiology.
