Jefferson Gómez won the silver medal in the 60K at the Santa Fe 2026 South American Games

The weightlifter Jefferson Gómez won the silver medal in the 60 kilograms, at the XIII South American Games Santa Fe 2026.

Gómez began his performance at the start with a first attempt of 105 kilograms, and then he sought the 113 kg on his second chance, a lift that he could not complete. But he returned to the platform and on his third attempt he managed to lift 115 kilograms.

The competition then moved to Envión, where the Venezuelan faced one of the most dramatic moments of the day, in his first attempt he requested 135 kg, but the lifting was declared null and void when he received two red lights.

However, Gómez had a new opportunity and, after completing the regular two minutes, he returned to the platform to successfully lift the 135 kilograms.

In his third attempt, the Venezuelan sought to raise the demand to 146 kg, but failed to complete the lifting. In this way, he closed his participation with a total of 250 kilograms, which allowed him to secure the silver medal.

New Granada's Duván Ferrer won the gold by lifting 120 at the start and 140 at the start for a total of 260, and the Paraguayan Alexandro Liuzzi took the bronze, thanks to the sum of 102 and 125 (227).
