Jorge Rodríguez: The Single Registry will determine the real need for new housing (+QR)

The president of the General Staff of Transitional Camps, Jorge Rodríguez, confirmed that, following the guidelines of the President in Charge Delcy Rodríguez, he initiated the Single Housing Registry, a mechanism that seeks to centralize technical and social information to assign housing solutions to families affected by the double earthquake of June 24.

During a press conference, Rodríguez announced that to date more than 17,000 families have lost their homes, “a figure that could increase after ongoing risk assessments.”

He explained that the registration began this Saturday and is carried out by taking fingerprints in the camps of Caracas, La Guaira and Miranda, as well as in the surrounding areas where the affected buildings are located. “This census will not only determine the real need for new housing, but it also integrates medical, logistical and labor data to facilitate comprehensive care, including the management of special bonuses provided by the Presidency of the Republic,” he said.

As part of the strategy, Rodríguez explained that a QR code system has been implemented that acts as an official certification. “This document guarantees those affected that, regardless of whether they are in an official temporary camp or in a “solidarity camp” with family members, their right to permanent housing backed by the State,” he said.

“This QR certifies that the person lost their home and that, as soon as possible, they will receive their new home. We want to give families peace of mind so that they can move to more comfortable spaces while the final works are being completed,” Rodríguez emphasized.
