On August 12, 2020, revolutionary leader José Salamat Khan, who had heart problems, died.

Better known as José “Chino”, Khan was characterized by his leadership and great revolutionary spirit, irreverent, honest and hardworking. He had various responsibilities during the Government of Commander Hugo Chávez and President Nicolás Maduro: He was one of the founders of the National Union of Workers (UNT) and the Bolivarian Force of Workers (FBT).

In addition, he was a member of the board of directors of the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), as well as vice-president and president of the Foreign Exchange Management Commission (CADIVI). In November 2013, he was vice-president of the National Center for Foreign Trade (CENCOEX).
