Karl Marx was born in Trier on May 5, 1818, in the industrial region of the Rhineland, heavily impacted by the French Revolution and the Enlightenment.

Of Jewish origin, Marx received a careful education from an early age that forged in him that acute and critical spirit that characterized him throughout his life.

Che (2007) described this characteristic in the following way: “... his powerful humanity was all concentrated on traveling the path, tirelessly, from top to bottom, from bottom to top, on the branches, without losing sight of the trunk, without ever despairing in his efforts”.

Marx was a philosopher, sociologist, historian, economist and politician. Regarded as the father of scientific socialism, modern communism, Marxism and historical materialism.

It was the inspirational source of great social struggles around the world and the philosophical-political-economic basis of revolutionary experiences such as those of Russia, China and Cuba.

Karl Marx's most representative works are the Manifesto of the Communist Party and Capital.

He died on March 14, 1883 at the age of 64 in London, England, after developing bronchitis and pleurisy, plunged into poverty and persecution by the European bourgeoisie.
