Lines 0800 Caracas and Ven 911 activated to respond to reports of damage caused by rains

As part of the immediate response by the Bolivarian Government to the rains, the mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, reported that lines 0800 Caracas and Ven 911 were made available to the population to receive reports on some type of damage that occurred in the parishes of the capital city.

He reiterated the call for calm among the people of Caracas and to remain in their homes and reported that five houses in the parish of La Vega were affected by the heavy rainfall recorded this Saturday, as a result of the passage of Tropical Wave No. 40 through the center of the country.

In a contact for Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Meléndez reported that crews from the Caracas Mayor's Office are dealing with the collapse of the La Vega landfill, caused by rains.

He also stated that housing damage was also reported in the San Agustín parish.

The capital's authority stressed that the National Risk Management System, Civil Protection, Fire and State security forces maintain deployment and cleaning brigades to clear impacted areas. “We recommend to our people not to go out if they don't need to go out so that our public security bodies, the Ministry of Public Works, and the machinery in place, carry out the clearing of the road.”
