LVBP sanctions four players for violating anti-doping policy (+Press Release)

The board of directors of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) announced in a statement the suspension of four players for violating the Anti-Doping Program.

The players sanctioned for the 2025-2026 season are: Rougned Odor, Osmer Morales, Melvi Acosta and Ángel Cuenca.

Regarding the sanctions granted, the statement specifies that Rougned Odor from Navegantes del Magallanes will be suspended for 13 games and will be able to be with his team at the start of the season.

On the other hand, Osmer Morales and Melvi Acosta, both from the Margarita Braves, will be suspended for 20 games in the first and the second a suspension for 13 games.

Meanwhile, Ángel Cuenca de Caribes de Anzoátegui will have 13 suspension games.

In the case of Odor, his team later issued a statement explaining that the adverse result of the anti-doping test is intrinsically related to prescription treatment for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

“The result was related to a medication prescribed for the treatment of ADHD, used by the player since his time in the major leagues, under supervision and authorization,” said the statement from Navegantes del Magallanes.

The team also admitted that at the time of the test, they had not submitted medical documentation for authorization. When submitted after the test result, it was dismissed.

Following the decision by the LVBP, Magallanes's statement says it respects the final decision taken by the board of directors, reiterating its support to the player during the fulfillment of the corresponding sanction.
