Minister Cabello reported that work continues to remove debris and recover bodies

From the Transitional Camp installed at the Simón Bolívar University, La Guaira nucleus, the sectoral vice-president of Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, reported that the phase of debris removal and recovery of bodies in buildings that collapsed as a result of the seismic event of last June 24 is continuing.

“We are in that painful task of removing debris and every time we remove debris we find bodies of people there, and their families waiting to identify them and bury them,” he said.

He recalled that these tasks are being carried out with greater deployment in the state of La Guaira, an entity that suffered the greatest impact of the double earthquake.

He stressed that the identification process is carried out rigorously and that the State guarantees free transfer, burial and cremation services, depending on the wishes of the relatives.

He indicated that in the case of people who have not been identified by family members, the collection is carried out of fingerprints, photographs, dental records and skin samples for subsequent DNA testing.
