Minister Carlos Alvarado activated new ophthalmic operating rooms at the Miguel Pérez Carreño Hospital

Two new operating rooms equipped with cutting-edge technology were activated in the ophthalmology service of the Miguel Pérez Carreño Hospital, located in Caracas, the Minister of Popular Power for Health (MPPS) reported on his website.

It highlights that the activity led by Minister Carlos Alvarado, aims to meet the high demand for eye surgery in the country.

It indicates that during the opening event, the 24th cataract intervention was successfully completed together with the head of the service, Marco Tulio Álvarez, the authorities emphasized that this project is integrated with the social actions of the government system to settle outstanding commitments in the public network.

He also explained that they work directly with the requests of 1×10 of Good Governance to progressively reduce the backlog in these operations.

“This task, which we started today at the Miguel Pérez Carreño Hospital, we had already started at the Domingo Luciani Hospital. We already have supplies to operate 15,000 eyes for patients who are on the waiting list,” said Alvarado.

The new infrastructure has advanced equipment such as specialized microscopes and phacoemulsifiers, as well as certified supplies that include intraocular lenses and visco-elastic substances to ensure high resolution capacity.

This medical facility will benefit both residents of the Capital District and people from neighboring states such as Miranda, La Guaira and Aragua who attend this important referral center.

“President Delcy Rodríguez has instructed us to accelerate everything we have to do to serve the Venezuelan population,” he said.

The minister announced the schedule of continuous extraordinary days and announced the future incorporation of specialized devices aimed at strengthening the retinal care area.
